UAE Golf Online recently was privileged to be part of the Pakistan v Australia one day and 20 20 cricket series at the new Dubai cricket stadium in Sports City. We had tickets for one of the 1 day internationals which started early in the afternoon and went on late into the night.
The actual cricket stadium is a much needed addition to the Dubai and UAE sports scene as the older venues are starting to show their age.
As you approach the stadium and get closer, you cannot help but be extremely impressed from the outside structure and development.

As I settled down to start watching the cricket, the stadium also started to fill as the end of the day faded out. When I looked around the stadium and saw the facilities, the stadium layout, seating and heard the sound system it is clear that this stadiums future is bright.
The cricket was a good advertisement for both teams and the day seemed to be a general success from all parties.

As the sun went down on the Dubai day, the stadium lighting came into action and created a stunning effect around the top rim of the circle ceilings that is visible for miles around the Dubai skyline. Coupled with the sunset sky colours it was an impressive sight and exciting feeling to be inside the arena at this time creating a unique atmosphere. This atmosphere immediately showed to me the potential for any event to be held there that runs into the evening, like a concert.

This stadium will definitely be worth a visit if you are a sports fan whatever event Dubai Sports City hold there and with rumours of different music artists linked with holding concerts, it all looks as good as the plans promised.
